Rotherham United Community Trust (RUST)
The aim of this activity is to reduce the impact of violent crime amongst young people, and work with young people to deter them from getting involved in gangs, drugs, knife, and gun crime. The project will work with young people from neighbourhoods which have seen an increase in violent crime to change the cultural and social attitudes which contribute to violence, and use a Public Health Approach to reducing violence by increasing young people’s awareness of the impact of crime on their own mental wellbeing and local residents.
High Green Development Trust
This funding is for an outreach-based engagement service, delivering targeted detached youth work, to engage young people at risk of involvement in, or at risk of becoming the victim of violence, gang involvement, anti-social behaviour, substance misuse, and other risky and harmful behaviours.
Rotherham Foster Carers Association
This funding will support the expansion and improvement of an existing initiative. Their youth club was originally set up in 2017 for Mockingbird Hub children, and was funded by one individual. The purpose of it is to provide Looked After Children with a safe space to learn how to socialise with the help and support of their carers. It also offers an area where siblings who are not placed together can be together, providing a fun space to make memories rather than the very bland contact centres.
ReconnectEd
The ReconnectEd coaching programme is an early intervention initiative with the aim of increasing attendance and reducing exclusions from mainstream school for young people facing extreme adversity. They do this by providing a trauma-informed emotion coaching programme to address the root causes of exclusion, crime, and violence.
