Roundabout
This service supports the most hard-to-reach and severely disadvantaged young people in Sheffield. The 16-25 year olds they support are street homeless, with concurrent needs around substance misuse, severe mental health issues, sex working, and domestic violence. Many are at risk of imprisonment, and may be in and out of custody as Roundabout support them.
Young Women’s Housing Project (YWHP)
Their aim is to provide interventions and support for young women and girls at risk of or affected by sexual abuse, domestic violence, and exploitation.
Together Women
The initiative will be targeted at marginalised young women and girls, vulnerable to teenage and early adulthood relationship abuse, aged 13-21 (up to 25 for those with Special Educational Needs), in a gender-specific, trauma-informed, safe environment.
High Green Development Trust
This funding is for an outreach-based engagement service, delivering targeted detached youth work, to engage young people at risk of involvement in, or at risk of becoming the victim of violence, gang involvement, anti-social behaviour, substance misuse, and other risky and harmful behaviours.
Rotherham Foster Carers Association
This funding will support the expansion and improvement of an existing initiative. Their youth club was originally set up in 2017 for Mockingbird Hub children, and was funded by one individual. The purpose of it is to provide Looked After Children with a safe space to learn how to socialise with the help and support of their carers. It also offers an area where siblings who are not placed together can be together, providing a fun space to make memories rather than the very bland contact centres.
Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA)
The purpose of this initiative is to build on the successful 'surge response' work that was funded by the VRU in the last financial year. This addressed the increase in the range and complexity of the issues faced by homeless and vulnerable women and children living in housing-related support services in Rotherham, Doncaster, and Sheffield.
Football Unites Racism Divides Educational Trust (FURD)
FURD are supporting local young people primarily from the BAME communities, utilising their purpose-built youth and community centre, U-Mix, which will provide a safe and structured environment for local young people to produce a film alongside one-to-one mentoring.
Roshni Sheffield Asian Women’s Resource Centre
This project will support 45 vulnerable Asian girls aged 10-14 from the Pakistani and Bangladeshi communities in Sheffield, in partnership with four schools, to build their confidence and self-esteem, and help them to build resilience to live lives free from violence and abuse.
ReconnectEd
The ReconnectEd coaching programme is an early intervention initiative with the aim of increasing attendance and reducing exclusions from mainstream school for young people facing extreme adversity. They do this by providing a trauma-informed emotion coaching programme to address the root causes of exclusion, crime, and violence.
