The aim of this project is to increase capacity for trauma-informed support in schools and homes.

The aim of this project is to increase capacity for trauma-informed support in schools and homes. This is an identified need of the children and young people in the families who access their organisation.

The project will:

  1. Deliver one-to-one sessions in schools/homes, using a trauma-informed model, through frontline identification, designed to respond effectively to vulnerable children and young people who have experienced trauma and/or have mental health issues, with a focus on recovery.
  2. Work towards cultural change around trauma awareness, enabling adults to think psychologically about children/young people in terms of experience and triggers, and enabling adults to react more skilfully and with deeper neuro-scientific understanding, creating mentally healthy schools and communities for both children and adults.
  3. Advocate for children and young people’s voices around trauma experience and the impact it has had, and work at increasing protective factors and ‘safety cues’ to prevent Adverse Childhood Experiences from becoming long term mental, physical, and societal health and violent response problems.
