Quick summary

Training 24 young people with emergency lifesaving skills to protect themselves and their communities from serious violence.

The project aim is to work with a group of 24 young people affected by violence, to provide a peer education programme that enables young people to learn, share, and teach emergency lifesaving skills.

In addition, they will undertake an Emergency First Aid at Work course, learn about NHS careers, and co-deliver StreetDoctors lifesaving sessions alongside their trainee healthcare volunteers. Underpinned by StreetDoctors’ trauma-informed practice, the programme offers personal development opportunities for young people to protect themselves and their communities from serious violence.

Participants will be encouraged to protect each other with first responder skills by acting as life savers in their communities, with a public health approach to safety designed and delivered by young people and NHS trainees.
