SWCP recognise the cultural issues which lead to Violence Against Women and Girls, and believe that they can play a large part in the societal shift towards equality by checking and challenging the early signs and behavioural traits which can lead to Violence Against Women and Girls.
The Youth Forum will share their views with Youth Mentors and South Yorkshire Police representatives. Their perspectives will be used to highlight gender inequality issues which they have identified, along with specific issues which women and girls face in the community. They will also also try to develop ideas on how to tackle this.
The key aims of this project:
- Influence direct behaviour change in young people who show/demonstrate initial indicators that can lead to Violence Against Women and Girls
- Achieve this by devising and facilitating workshops based on tackling violence and sexual misconduct, aimed at mixed groups of young people in the 13-15 age range
- Combine football activities and informal workshops within a programme that raises aspirations, and challenges and changes negative perceptions and behavioural traits.
