The ReconnectEd coaching programme is an early intervention initiative with the aim of increasing attendance and reducing exclusions from mainstream school for young people facing extreme adversity. They do this by providing a trauma-informed emotion coaching programme to address the root causes of exclusion, crime, and violence.

ReconnectEd is working in partnership with Brigantia Learning Trust, where the coaching programme is taking place.

The target audiences are young people at risk of exclusion and their families/carers. The anticipated outcomes are for the young
people to have reengagement with their learning, improved attendance, and fewer exclusions, which all lead to better life chances, increased social mobility, less exposure to negative influences, and less chance of committing crime.

ReconnectEd Coaches come from the young people’s communities because they understand the issues the young people face and can swiftly build trusted relationships with them. The employment of local coaches also aims to bridge cultural differences, leading to greater community cohesion.
