Quick summary
The aim of this project is to work in partnership with South Yorkshire Police and their Doncaster Domestic Abuse Teams.
The aim of this project is to work in partnership with South Yorkshire Police and their Doncaster Domestic Abuse Teams.
In particular, this work will focus on Domestic Violence Protection Order cases, where there is a victim of Domestic Abuse, but they are not willing or able to progress the matter to court as they are fearful of repercussions, isolation, or long-term implications; are not able to acknowledge that they are a victim; or don’t feel they can support the Police in a prosecution at that point in time.
The aim of this project’s safe space is to provide a welcoming, non-judgemental place where victims can access emergency supplies, such as food, sanitary products, and clothes, but also a place where victims can be signposted to relevant services, such as safe houses and counselling.
The project will also enrol victims into their Freedom Programme if appropriate, giving them the lifelong tools to identify red flags in future relationships.
