Reduction type
Attitudinal Change, Primary prevention
Area
Sheffield
Funding amount
£14,000
Purpose
To prepare young men and boys in the community to become positive role models who have a clear understanding of domestic abuse and the negative impact this has on individuals, their families and the wider community.
Quick summary
The funding enabled sessions to take place which lead to the young people gaining a greater understanding of domestic abuse and the negative and damaging affect it has.
With funding for the South Yorkshire Violence Reduction Unit, the #breakingthelink project delivered a targeted programme of activities to #breakthelink with domestic abuse and learned behaviour to make a lasting change in their lives and communities.
They engaged young people and diverted them away from activity on the streets where they were at risk of becoming victims of crime and violent behaviour. They have now become alert to the factors, causes and impacts of domestic abuse. In addition to this positive steps have been taken to improve their own physical and mental health and well-being.
