Area

South Yorkshire

Funding amount

£9,000

Purpose

To run an awareness and reporting project which targets members of the public who have concerns about domestic abuse that they know of.

Quick summary

The funding will ensure the general public of South Yorkshire is targeted through advertising to tell them that they can use Crimestoppers to report their suspicions, and concerns about domestic abuse anonymously and without fear of reprisal.

Domestic abuse is often a hidden crime, but often someone knows. With the knowledge that there is an anonymous and safe route to report perpetrators securely without risk is extremely important, the service provided by Crimestoppers provides an additional route to report domestic abuse and support the victims.

The funding will be aimed at running a local Radio and DAX (Digital Audio Advertising) programme to raise awareness of the anonymous service to report concerns about vulnerable people, who are potentially suffering abuse at home without fear of reprisal.

Crimestoppers is the only organisation that guarantees anonymity to everyone contacting them with information on crime. They provide an essential route for those individuals who are fearful of being identified, or mistrust law enforcement.
