Purpose

To ensure CPD accredited training given to staff in schools and colleges on adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) is completed in order to provide a greater benefit to children, young people and families.

Quick summary

To ensure that children who have experienced sexual violence and other ACES, go on to live full lives free from domestic abuse.

Children who have experienced sexual abuse are more likely to live in violent relationships as adults and when this is experienced the effects of other ACEs are doubled.

By offering accredited training to school and college staff rather than children and young people directly, this ensures the learning will last for many years, benefitting hundreds more children and young people.

Additionally ACEs training will specifically be offered to foster carers, recognising that children in care are highly likely to have experienced more than four ACES but ,with support from just one understanding carer, this impact can be minimised.

Due to COVID-19 preventing face-to-face streaming of this training. The BSARCS have adapted to online delivery of the training via zoom and other e-learning activities have been provided.
