The South Yorkshire Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) has visited Fleming Gardens, a supported housing development in Rotherham.

The project, which supports young mums aged 16-25, was set up in 2004, and provides accommodation and assistance in areas from mental health to employment to future housing prospects.

The VRU visited to chat to Project Manager Elly, who explained about the service and the work it does, while the VRU highlighted its work in the local area.

Graham Jones, Head of the South Yorkshire Violence Reduction Unit said: “The VRU is committed to supporting young people here in South Yorkshire.

“That’s why our Violence Reduction Fund grant round has provided funding to a number of initiatives to provide positive role models and opportunities for young people and prevent involvement in violence.

“Alongside that work, we are always keen to build relationships with new partners and find out more about their work. I’m pleased that we were able to visit Fleming Gardens, to chat to Elly about their project and explore areas where we could work together in future.”
