The South Yorkshire Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) has supported a Rotherham Evening and Night-Time Economy training event.
Held at The Mason’s Arms in Wickersley, the event involved stakeholders including licensees, venue staff, door security staff, the South Yorkshire Police neighbourhood and GRIP teams, Rotherham Council, and the Security Industry Association.
The event was held to bring together key partners to look at the changing nature of the Evening and Night-Time Economy, assess the issues and security risks faced, and deliver training to those working in this environment.
Graham Jones, Head of the South Yorkshire Violence Reduction Unit said: “There are a number of challenges around keeping people safe in the Evening and Night-Time Economy, particularly now that it has fully reopened after COVID-19 lockdowns.
“Events such as this in Rotherham are important in bringing together key partners to share best practice, and look at how we can work together more closely.
“I’m pleased that the VRU was able to support this event. This sits alongside and complements our work on the Evening and Night-Time Economy in other districts across South Yorkshire.”
