The South Yorkshire Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) has supported a Rotherham Evening and Night-Time Economy training event.
Held at Magoo’s Bar in Rotherham town centre, the event brought together the VRU, Rotherham Council, South Yorkshire Police, and licensees and bar staff from across the town.
During the event, talks were delivered by South Yorkshire Police’s GRIP and counter-terrorism teams, and by Rotherham Council’s Community Safety Team.
The event follows a recent training event in Doncaster, and the distribution of radios to licensed premises across Rotherham, to allow venues to stay in contact with each other, improving safety and co-ordination in the Evening and Night-Time Economy.
Graham Jones, Head of the South Yorkshire Violence Reduction Unit said: “This is the latest of a number of training events the VRU has contributed to on the Evening and Night-Time Economy.
“These events sit alongside our other work in this area, such as the Countywide Information Sharing Group the Unit has led in setting up.
“The aim of this work is to strengthen relationships between key partners and stakeholders, ensuring that we all work together closely to improve safety in the Evening and Night-Time Economy.
“I would like to thank everyone who attended this event for their commitment to addressing this issue. I look forward to continuing this work in future.”
