The South Yorkshire Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) has supported a Purple Thursday Networking Event.
Purple Thursday is a yearly event which focuses on raising awareness of domestic abuse, and the support services which are available.
Hosted by the Helping Hands Community Centre in Edlington, the event brought together key local organisations to strengthen partnerships and increase knowledge of the work taking place to tackle domestic abuse in Doncaster.
The VRU had a stall at the event, speaking to people about the Unit’s work and initiatives to tackle domestic abuse.
Graham Jones, Head of the South Yorkshire Violence Reduction Unit said: “Domestic abuse is a serious issue. It has a profound impact on victims and survivors, and can lead to long-lasting trauma.
“As we do every year, the VRU is supporting Purple Thursday 2023, as an important opportunity to raise awareness of domestic abuse.
“This event allowed us to meet with key partners and local residents in Edlington, raising awareness of the VRU’s work, and strengthening our understanding of the work partners are doing to tackle this issue.”
