The South Yorkshire Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) have visited the Madina Masjid Mosque in Sheffield.

The visit took place in December. During the visit, the VRU and OPCC met with community leader Zahid Saleem, who gave them a tour of the Mosque.

This provided an opportunity to learn more about Islam, and the Mosque’s work in the local community in Sharrow.

Commenting, Graham Jones, Head of the South Yorkshire Violence Reduction Unit said: “At the Violence Reduction Unit, we are always keen to build links with local community groups and organisations – these partnerships are central to the work that we do to prevent and reduce violence in South Yorkshire.

“I’m grateful that the Unit had the opportunity to visit the Mosque.

“Alongside colleagues from the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, this provided an opportunity for the VRU to learn more about the work the Mosque does, and to develop our relationship with them.”
