The South Yorkshire Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) and Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) have supported a Christmas fair in Dinnington, Rotherham.
The fair brought together organisations from across Rotherham and South Yorkshire, including the NHS, South Yorkshire Police, and Rotherham Council, and community groups such as the Dinnington Community Boxing Group, which has received funding from the VRU.
The annual event, including music, Santa, and real life reindeer, brings the community together for an afternoon of festivity.
The VRU and OPCC had a stall at the event, along with other organisations.
Graham Jones, Head of the South Yorkshire Violence Reduction Unit said: “Part of our role at the Violence Reduction Unit is getting out and about into the community to meet with residents and other organisations, to raise awareness of who we are and what we do.
“I’m pleased that the VRU was able to support this event in Dinnington, alongside colleagues from the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, and that so many people were there to join in the festive fun.”
Dr Alan Billings, South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner said: “The Dinnington Christmas reindeer event is always well attended by local people, and represents an opportunity to bring people together and share in the festive season.
“It is always a pleasure for myself and my office to attend events such as this and meet with people across South Yorkshire, including in Dinnington where we visit regularly.
“I would like to pass on my thanks to the organisers for putting on such a good event.”
