Mental, Emotional and Digital/Online Abuse
When people think about domestic abuse, they often focus on physical violence. But it also includes any attempt by one person to control their partner, ex-partner or family member.
Examples of non-physical abuse are:
- Mental and psychological abuse – intimidation, insults, harassment, belittling, interfering with relationships, and manipulating anxieties or beliefs.
- Emotional abuse – insults, threatening harm to themselves or others, attacking self esteem, deliberately ignoring victims, distorting and denying the truth.
- Digital/online abuse – stalking, publishing false or malicious information, trolling, revenge porn, monitoring through smart devices, checking messages and social media.
If you, or someone you know is in an abusive relationship and you don’t know what to do, please contact us. We will listen and we can help.
