The violence reduction fund allows us to award funding to community based projects which play an important role in the fight to reduce crime.

Community groups from Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield have all been successful in the first round of the South Yorkshire Violence Reduction Fund, with some covering the whole of South Yorkshire.

HMP Lindholme

The funding helped to install CCTV cameras in the blind-spots of the accommodation to monitor inmates in every corner of the premises which has resulted in a reduction of reported crimes to the South Yorkshire Prison Policing Team.

Edlington Community Organisation

46 young people that have been influenced by the drug and organised crime gangs within the area have attended diversionary and attitudinal change sessions

Domestic Violence/Abuse Equipment

1,450 items of security equipment purchased for victims of domestic and sexual abuse. 2,000 badges purchased for practitioners trained in domestic abuse as part of a campaign to encourage reporting

Doncaster Search Mitts for Door Staff

The funding facilitated the purchase of 50 search mitts for the door staff working within Doncaster's Night Time Economy to conduct ultra-fast body scans for metal objects without any body contact.

Almond Boxing Academy

The violence reduction fund has helped Almond Boxing Club to buy appliances for new kitchen to allow provision of diet and nutrition course and to buy equipment for the gym for a new cardio vascular area. The club has also been able to support 19 young people who have been excluded from school and/or involved in criminal activity were with the funding.

The grant enabled the organisation to purchase additional re-deployable CCTV cameras to meet ever increasing demands to tackle anti-social behaviour in communities.
