The South Yorkshire Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) recently visited the Clifton Learning Partnership, a community organisation based in Rotherham.
The VRU has supported the Learning Partnership with funding to deliver Shed Load of Cakes. This is a unique programme linking community kitchens and social enterprise projects in all four districts of South Yorkshire.
The initiative includes engagement with ex-offenders, a training and employment support programme for young people, and language courses to support diverse communities with learning and translating English.
As well as observing the language courses taking place during their visit, the VRU chatted to the Learning Partnership about their other projects, including their community and after school initiatives, and their work to support local families.
Graham Jones, Head of the South Yorkshire Violence Reduction Unit said: “I’m grateful to the Clifton Learning Partnership for their work with the local community in Rotherham.
“Organisations such as this make a real difference, providing a safe space and supporting young people, families, and vulnerable individuals.
“This supports our ambition to work with local residents and organisations to prevent and reduce violence in South Yorkshire.”
